The IOTA Foundation and NEXT Biometrics announce a partnership to implement identity management solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT) field.
After the announcement of a partnership with Sopra Steria (with a view to creating a framework intended to optimize the security of connected objects through the use of Blockchain), the IOTA Foundation is approaching NEXT Biometrics.
Biometrics and Tangle for connected objects
This time, it is a question of understanding identity management solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT).
World leader in fingerprint sensor technology, NEXT Biometrics will collaborate with the German Foundation on the development of IoT solutions integrating its advanced fingerprint sensor technology and the open source protocol of the IOTA Foundation.
The project involves using Tangle (IOTA’s quantum-proof protocol) to establish a secure way to capture, store and access people’s identities. The goal is to integrate fingerprint sensor technology into IOTA’s Open Source protocol.
A new step for the IDs of connected objects
Alain Faburel, Director of Sales and Marketing at NEXT, explains “I look forward to working with IOTA to develop new, secure and convenient identification standards for the Internet of Things market”. And to specify that “the combination of IOTA Foundation standards for interactions between IoT devices and our secure biometric sensors will allow secure transactions on a multitude of IoT applications.”
Concretely, NEXT will integrate IOTA technology in some of its sensors, taking advantage of IOTA’s technical expertise.
For Holger Köther, Director of Partnerships at the IOTA Foundation, “IOTA Tangle provides secure data transfer, with an immutable audit trail. The integration of IOTA into NEXT Biometrics sensors is a key step in creating solutions that enable secure and efficient user identification at the device level. Together, these solutions will provide digital trust as we move towards the Internet of Everything. ”
